At Botha: At was born in Kroonstad in 1949. His father was a teacher and he spent much of his childhooud commuting between towns in the Orange Free State region. He matriculated at Hoerskool Menlo Park, after which he completed his stidies in drama. From childhood At loved painting and though without formal training he has achieved a long and successful career as an artist. "My inspiration to paint is mostly derived from images drawn from my childhood. The figures in my paintings are often painted from behind in order to drw the attention of the viewer towards the clouds and mountainscapes that have fascinated me throughout my life".
