Este Mostert:

From a very young age Esté exhibited an interest for fine arts. This inspired her to study formally under Casper Steenkamp, Ben Botha and Prof A.A.F Treurlinckx at the University of the Free State.

Her first solo exhibition is held in 1981 after which many national and international exhibitions followed (Taipei, USA, and England).

Impressionism means the total impression of the eye and soul, a fleeting instant in time which is caught on canvas-the atmosphere, the movement, the colour and the light. this is what Esté strives for in every work.

Esté Mostert is a diverse artist. Originally she worked in the medium of ink sketches which progressed to water colours. In her search for an individual style and character she began experimenting with rice paper and mixed media.

Her technique of acrylic gauche and pastel is enhanced by the grain of the rice paper. Esté now also works in oils, acrylics and glaze. Her technique in this medium is based on Impressionism. Her work reflects a shared experience of that which lies beyond reality.
